Introduction

Music Research and Development Forum, Nepal (MRDFN) established in 2007 AD, is a social organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Nepal’s rich musical cultures and traditions. With our country’s diverse multi-caste and multi-lingual population, we cherish the beautiful and ear-pleasing musical traditions that have been passed down through generations. However, urbanization and modernity have led to the loss and endangerment of these original and traditional musical heritages. MRDF Nepal tirelessly works to search, research, and revive these forgotten musical traditions, documenting them through books, audios, and videos for future generations. By doing so, we aim to raise awareness and appreciation for our endangered musical cultures and ensures their preservation as a part of Nepal’s national identity. Through our collective efforts, we strive to safeguard our unique musical heritage and maintain a strong connection to our cultural roots.
